I haven't used it in some time, but if I remember effectively, you have to place it on to the floor, in front of you facing away, own it powered on, but throttled all the way down so the motors are off. Then carry one of the shoulder control keys for 5 or 10 moments (I can't remember which one). It'll make a beep, but I think you have to wait for this to beep again… maybe. And it's in headless mode.
I cannot speak for each single one who owns a Phantom, but I can say that If you have an issue with the drone (that wasn't you're mistake), they'll repair it and obtain it back to you. Obviously, just how long it takes depends on how many auto repairs they have, your geographical area, what kind of repair they need to do, if indeed they have the parts in stock for repair etc.. Frankly, If something breaks on my Phantom 3, I am going to just order the part I want from the DJI store and fix it myself which is what most people do.
