The first rung on the ladder to learning how to build and fly a miniquad is focusing on how all of the parts come together to make it happen. This is the purpose of this post. ESC smokes: try turning the bad ESC with a working anyone to see if it's the ESC or motor unit(if the new ESC smokes, it's the motor and if the new ESC doesn't smoke, it was only a bad ESC) OR swap the motor unit with another known good one. if the ESC still smokes then it is the ESC, if it doesnt smoke again, it was the motor(touching phases), but that will require that the ESC works (the one which smoked).
