In this website, I'm continuing my exploration of what Chris Anderson's company DIY Drones has done in using open-source methods to create products that are exponentially less expensive to make.
Like the Q4 itself, the transmitter (TX) it comes with is light and compact, but well-built and with some excellent features. Unlike a great deal of small RC airplane the communication between your Q4's TX and the models receiver (RX) is via a radio link alternatively than infrared light. The benefit of this would be that the TX does not have to be constantly directed at the model for it to receive a specific signal. Powered by two AAA batteries, the TX has a built-in safety feature presenting a visible and audible transmission that the TX and RX have bonded once both models have been started up. Ahead of this bonding the models motors are not live and so theres no potential for the motors powering up that could otherwise potentially cause a danger.
