It takes about 2 hours to ask for one of the batteries using the proprietary USB cable, so when you obtain the drone home, you'll have to show patience for a little before you start using it. I'd recommend charging both batteries before making your first air travel, because you'll burn off through the rechargeable battery pack quite quickly, and you'll want to be in a position to put the next one in and fly some more before you go out of juice.

This is a huge bummer, as much of the long-time Phantom owners will have spares (you can only just take flight 15 to 20 minutes per demand). Any upgraders will have to re-buy extras, with $149 for the Phantom 3, they ain't cheap.
